All the Way My Savior Leads Me (1875)

Fannie Jane Crosby, 1820-1915

Fanny Crosby was one of the most prolific of gospel song writers of her generation.  All together it is estimated that she wrote words to over 6,000 songs. Among her best-known hymns still in use today are “Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine,” “Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior,” and “To God Be the Glory.”  She lost her sight due to a medical accident when she was 6 years old, but it did not dampen her spirit. Two years later, at the age of eight, she wrote these words that summed up her outlook on life: “O happy soul am I!/ For though I cannot see,/I am resolved that in this world/Contented I will be.”
